I always feel like I should have pictures to post something. I just have to get back into the habit of posting something and just add pictures when I have a chance. Things have been busy as always around here. I just got back last night from a Youth Conference in Hong Kong. It is the first one I have been to since I was a youth 18 years ago. Wow, how did I get so old. It still freaks me out to see how big someone is who was born in the 1990's. Anyway we had a great time.
Colin just got home this morning from a trip to San Jose. We are pretty bumbed about the new weight restrictions on flights. It is our chance to enjoy a few little nicities of home. In case you wonder what we miss, he brought back some books, beef jerky, candy for gingerbread house decorating, and a bunch of cold cereal. They have some cereal we can buy at the import stor, but I can't bring myself to pay $7-10 for one box. Jared and I have been walking in the mornings before school so I don't have a chance (and don't want to anyway) to make hot breakfast. If I were a good mom I'd make my kids eat oatmeal everyday. Oh well, I never was a traditional breakfast eater anyway. My favorite is hot apple pie with ice cream first thing in the morning.
The weather has finally cooled off here. I can actually layer my t-shirts now. I even wore my boots one day last week. The ACs are all turned off and we can leave a few windows open. There are even crickets chirping as I write.
I could use a little help. Leslie and Emma have decided to turn into chatter boxes as soon as their heads hit the pillows. They tell me how scared they are. They ask if they can sleep in my bed. They go through the whole list until I give up and just shut the door. Then they talk to eachother and play or fight. They will not be quiet and go to sleep unless I stand there and keep telling them to close their eyes verytime they open them to see if I'm still there. We have taken away computer time or the night light, and last night I even resorted to taking away favorite dolls which lead to screaming and crying. Obviously not the best choice. Does anyone have any advice to getting two very cute and very noisy girls to settle down at night?

Told you I read your blog :-)
I might try putting them to bed 20 minutes earlier. That way, if they are talking, it is ok because it's not past their bedtime. Then hopefully they'll talk themselves out by the time it really is bedtime. Or maybe set a timer to let them know how long it is ok to talk, and then they need to be quiet. Have you tried playing the Primary CD? Or as we get closer, a Christmas CD? Maybe a story tape - something that they have to lay still to listen to. Best of luck.
When the kids have had to sleep in the same room, I always put them to bed in separate rooms(one in my room), then moved that one over after they were asleep. It never seemed to work when they were in the same room. Good luck!
